Old Boot Disaster

SNOWBIRD, UT — For this ski day (another warm, sunny day), I was back to my old boots. Unfortunately, I struggled today. We were able to ski more terrain; however, the combination of some difficult snow conditions (crusty old snow from a storm earlier in the week), skiing more difficult terrain, and my desperate boot situation made my day miserable. It's time for new new boots, or else my first ski season out west will be miserable.

New Boot Disaster

SNOWBIRD, UT — I had just bought new ski boots the night before to replace the boots I've had for 8 years that (I just discovered) are at least 2 sizes too big for me. No wonder I haven't really gotten any better at skiing in like 5 years!

Another Powder Day

SNOWBIRD, UT — Throughout the week, Snowbird got about 43 inches of snow (about 17 inches yesterday). When I read online that the canyon road would be closed for part of the day so the ski patrol could work on some avalanche control, I was not the least bit surprised.
